"360" Camera
The "360" camera is actually not a 360 camera, that is how chattahs usually call it. Marc is autistic and actually doesn't like the term "360 cam" because it is incorrect wording. Instead it is just a camera shot, a camera going around in a circle.
Marc came up with this years ago before 2019 while looking for an interesting way to make a CS:GO fragmovie (The best frags of the month/week youtube series). He wanted to create a camera that goes around the desktop and maybe speed it up to either have a transition between frags or having some kind of timelaps. Also trying to come up with unique camera angles for either livestream or recordings was Marc's idea to seperate from other content creators.
The inspiration was probably from movies or live tv shows/football games where they have a camera flying around for example skycam or somebody with a tripod stabilization system (steady cam) running around to make it look super smooth
Marc tried muliple ways to achieve this. He thought about cable cams or camera sliders, a fan on the ceiling etc.
For the "360 cam" the first idea was building train toy tracks around the desktop. Putting a go pro on the toy train (GoPro 2). Back in the day there was no stabilization of the image and it was too shaky. Also this was meant for recording only and not to actually livestream it. Livestream would require a wireless camera connection and he was not sure how to achieve this back in the day and that was another problem he had to figure out.
After a while (actually after moving to a new apartment) he came up with a disco ball motor on the ceiling. Combined with bamboo sticks with a counter weight on one side and the camera on the other side it guaranteed a smooth image even without any gimbal or software stabilization. After experimenting with it and only using it for a few recordings (!slurp is actually filmed with a Canon g7x and not with a phone) he finally livestreamed with it using a phone. That was probably around 2019/2020 still with no viewers and not even being a Affiliate on Twitch.
He was/is using the NDI app that sends the image over the network directly to OBS. Nowadays there is lots of apps that make your phone a webcam.
